Description
I feel like the Ducks owe the Bruins a sweetheart deal. The Bs paid a premium for cap retention in the Lindholm deal that they weren't even able to use. Even with the extension and the excellent season Lindholm is having, a first, two seconds, and Vaakanainen was still a great haul too. Before that, the Ducks also were surely the winning side in the Kase deal as well, while Ritchie-Heinen was a toss up. Before 2020, the Bruins and Ducks had almost no trade history. If Anaheim wants to keep this relationship alive as they rebuild while Boston contends, they can massage it a little. Comtois is having a second consecutive tough season and has fallen out of favor. The Ducks are trying to move him and if they can't may not make him a QO. He's an interesting reclamation project for the Bs, who could use some extra size and goal scoring prowess, not only down the stretch but moving forward. A $2.5MM QO - or a negotiated deal at a lower price - seems like a worthwhile bargain for a cap-strapped Boston squad. In return, the Bruins send two NHL-ready prospects Anaheim's way, plus a project prospect. And if the Ducks, who are looking at a complete blue line overhaul this summer, want Mike Reilly as well, that works too.

And? I didn't trade Frederic or claim Comtois was replacing him. In fact, I recognize that Frederic is the more versatile player and can center the fourth line whereas Comtois needs to be a top-nine winger to be effective. You need some redundancy in the playoffs, especially when it comes to size and scoring.

I love how you just gloss over the Ducks taking the cap dumps of John Moore and David Backes off the Bruins books. The Bruins paid fairly for those cap dumps and the players acquired so this sense of we-owe-you-one is misguided at best and delusional at worst.

Oh right, so you knocked the teams top pk forward out of the lineup in order to add a bad forward. Why? You’re knocking frederic out of his position for a guy that’s worse than every player on the bruins roster. Then you knock an incredibly important piece of the bottom six out of the lineup for him as well. All it does is make the team worse.

What’s the purpose?

The rumors that we are trying to move Comtois are as accurate as the rumors were trying to move Gibson, not true at all. We have a new regime next year and Comtois will be out of the doghouse.

Lastly, Anaheim doesn't owe Boston ****, they were fair trades made, you got the guy you wanted and you locked him up, and we are still paying the cap dump you sent back until the end of this season. We're not going.to sell you a young player with retention for a couple prospects from the barest cabinet in the league.
