Roster needs complete makeover

I really am just baffled by Hextall's trade deadline. It's like he has 0 plan at all. I think virtually every one of his moves, besides the Rakell trade and signing the core, has turned out terrible. I'm also starting to question Sully as well. Why is it that every player that we let go of ends up going off or significantly improving once they're on a new team (Mccann, Sprong, Lafferty, Gaudreau). Marino is looking unreal now as well. Even Kapanen has 2 goals in 3 games with the Blues. I dont get why this is always happening and whether its a problem with Sullivan or Hextall not surrounding them with the right players. I think its both. I think Hextall is awful at evaluating talent too. I dont get how at this TDL he saw an old and pretty soft team that struggled with lack of speed and physicality, then decided to make it older. Granlund I dont dislike and I will give a chance, but he's not what we needed at all and I honestly would maybe rather have Kapanen at 3 mil for one more year than Granlund at 5 for 3 more years. This roster just has no identity I feel like and the team needs a new GM for sure this offseason. I'd give Sully another chance too, but the seat would be a little hot next year. Just very frustrated where the team is at and truly feel like Hextall has no clue what he's doing at all and has done nothing to address our issues. Here's my attempt to fix it. What I tried to do here is get Crosby a power forward, Malkin with defensively responsible player and a little grit, just a super fast 3rd line, and a 4th line mixed with physicality and youth. Then tried to get more mobile, puck moving D. Hate to trade Rust, he's one of my favorites, but I really feel we need a huge blockbuster to shake up the team.
