Description
This is the way Part 2, continued from previous post 'next year'

The Habs trade is clickbait. haha, I know, i know but while you are here...

Here me out, PLD looks at Canadiens roster next summer and says yeesh. Why don't i just sign here for a few years take a run with this group and then sign in Montreal. After all, its a good situation with good wingers, family cottage with great fishing and low cost of living! Dad works with True North. eventually he will have met a nice mademoiselle depuis ST Boniface et devinir ambassador d'official pour La Festival du Voyageur! Le reste appartient à l'histoire. Then he signs a long term deal in Winnipeg and wears the C until he retires. plausible right?

37 million for Hellebuyck
55 million for Scheifele (yes I know this deal will age badly but True North will give him this legacy deal. All money in for his career i say he deserves it)

With the 22nd pick in the 2024 NHL entry draft the Winnipeg Jets are proud to select from the Ottawa 67's of the OHL, Henry Mews

Hot take no one asked for. I think at this point we look back on this trade deadline and thank Jesus the Jets didnt trade Heinola, Lucius, Lambert or McGroarty!

I agree that it's very possible that Dubois with the Jets, however if he were to sign there it would be either a 1 or 8 year deal. He'll be 25 and has already went through 2 bridge deals, he needs to secure the bag now while his stock is high. 4 years would be an unnecessary risk for him.

How is it debatable? The habs have a signifigantly better young core than winnipeg does (its not really close....at all) that signing long term wpuld be beneficial for

On the current roster and IR winnipeg only has barron samberg stanley and perfetti younger than dubois Outside perfetti those are all fringe players.

The habs meanwhile have suzuki caufield dach ylonen barron guble harris slafkovsky xhekaj . Its night and day lol

Thats before you add in the 2 high picks they have this year who would likely be impact nhlers by year 3 of his contract.

All of that talent is team controlled too suzuki is signed to term meanwhile schiefele could walk (and even if he doesnt he will be 30 next offseason so you are hitching yourself to a likely expensive player in decline).

Its not close

My guy, KFC only 26, Ehlers 27, Hellebuyck 28, Morrisey 27, throw in Dubois, Perfetti, Lucius, McGroarty, Heinola, Lambert. Even if the vets don’t sign they will be moved for assets.
My point is this team is in a 1-3 year windo with these core players whereas Habs are a few pieces away yet. Who’s in net?
Jacques made a good point it’s long term or 1 year with which I agree!
