Focus on D and 3C

Garland is not a replacement for Pacioretty, he would be a replacement for someone like Fast, but the Canes already have Puljujarvi to do that. Plus, Pacioretty apparently wants to come back according to LeBrun and the Canes want to see if they can make it work

Time to move on from an old injury prone player whose betteryears are behind him.

Canes need to find more scoring while their contention window is open. If not Garland then somebody else that fits in the cap.

JP isn’t the answer. Reclamation maybe.

Such as? Kane? No. Tarasenko? Not really. Bertuzzi? No. Garland is a depth winger, he is not even in the same conversation as the kind of player the Canes need. But let's park that aside for a second. Pacioretty scored in every game he saw the end of in Carolina this year. If they do not rush him back from an achillies injury, why would they not bring him back? What alternatives are there that can play such a strong defensive game without sacrificing offensive production?

Sabres are going to stay far away from Tyler Myers. Please stop trying to trade him back to Buffalo.

If we forget NMC/NTC:

OEL and Miller to PHI for Hayes and Sanheim, 15 mil for 13mil. Miller is better than Hayes, but Sanheim is better than OEL, difference in age, contract length and cap hit is slightly in VAN favour.
