Description
FSG needs to bring in an entirely new management team… there’s quite a few teams that have to win or else so we might be able to snag some talent after other front offices get blown up

For goaltending I offer Jarry 2x4M take it or leave it. It’s a bridge deal bc he has to prove he can stay healthy and actually perform… he’s been awful recently but our lack of caring about playing defense hasn’t helped at all… hill I brought in as a 1b option… DeSmith is too inconsistent so I look to move him

Zucker has made himself indispensable bc if the energy and fight he brings. He brings an element we need alot more of but he keeps it under control and doesn’t take dumb penalties. I think he’ll take a similar contract to the one he has if we give him term… let’s be honest we can give 8 years to anybody and it doesn’t matter we’re gonna have to do a 5-8 year rebuild anyway till like 2032 lol
On D I’m ok moving on from POJ bc we have smith but we have way too many RHD so I look to move Petry mainly bc of his contract… ruuta is redundant bc friedman and ruhwedel do a good job on the third pair
I tried to target a bunch of players that can bring some intensity so lmk what y’all think

I think you got Vatrano and Rakells positions switched.

As to the Vatrano trade, we want him for the same reasons you do. Rutta is a decent stopgap at 3RD for a bit though the guy is quite aged. Anaheim really has no need of centers, which seems to be part of the main offering, we need RHD and right shot wingers, but again, your cupboard is rather barren.

I’ve always liked POJ but unless we move Mac there isn’t a whole lot of room on our left side to give POJ the ice time for him to flourish

And Petry is not a contract I’d want to take on

When do you anticipate the rebuild would start though? The core have been fantastic this year, but they won't be able to play at this level for much longer. I don't think its worth it extensively retooling the roster to make it a contender for maximum only 1 more year of contending. I don't know if it's possible either. This team desperately needs youth and the only way to do it is to rebuild or trade Guentzel basically. If we have a new GM come in with an extensive, concrete plan to contend for 1 year then rebuild after then I'll be fine with it. But I don't know if it's worth it only for maybe a year. I would just prefer to start the rebuild now and make it less lengthy and painful. If we do that then we can become a contender again well before 2032. If we do it the right way, could maybe even finish it before Crosby retires.

Yeah I was just speculating but we both know the pens don’t see themselves correctly. They think they can still win… so I bet they try to be competitive till at least 2025 so two more seasons after this one… even then the core won’t retire until probably 2027 and the pens won’t even be able to be a bottom-5 team until then… even a couple top 5 picks will take a few years to flourish so yeah my guess of 2032 for being relevant again might be off but I doubt that lol 😂

I think a lot depends on what ownership does this offseason, but I think we probably are solidly out of a playoff spot next year. I don't think we'll make it this year even, but next year I think we'll probably finish high 70s or low 80s for points. At that point we should rebuild, but wouldn't shock me if we put it off another year. Could also see some of the core guys asking out at that point, or management just going for a rebuild, but impossible to know since FSG given no indication what they want to do. I think we'll be bottom 5 team in 2-4 years then rebuild will probably take 5 so honestly 2030 around is when I expect us to contend again. So yeah actually your pretty accurate on that one.
