Description
Stevie's TDL press conference indicated where his mind is at. I think Ottawa will improve next season again and Buffalo should also be better. I don't see the East getting any easier next season in regards to the battle for playoff spots. If we make it, great. If we miss, great.
I don't see any reason to rush the process. The majority of the time, it doesn't produce the desired outcome.

I think you move Perron regardless of where we are in the standings. Even if we have an out of nowhere "New Jersey" type season next year and look like we are on the rise, you would be delusional to think that we could reach the finals or win a cup. He could bring back an important piece for the future (not just saying a draft pick or young prospect).
Kubalik could be moved too. We could also sign guys this summer to flip at the deadline, but I wouldn't want to get carried away with that line of thinking and have all our young guys ride the pine and stunt their developement.

I think priority is to sign a backup for Husso, a second pair right handed dman, and a right handed forward.

Raanta is still a great goalie. He may stick around in Carolina next year, but not at that price. I think you overpay a guy like him for a season.

Overpayment would be the word that bests describes my thinking for this ACGM.

Overpay a guy like Schenn, Gudas or Holl in free agency. No more than 3 years maximum, but pay them well enough that they can't turn down the offer. If you can get them for less than 3 mil, great. Don't see it happening after Gudbransons 4x4 last season. Especially with the type of seasons all 3 of those guys are having. Pay them 5-6 mil for a year or two and they can be vets who munch minutes and provide stability in the top 4.

I really like Gaudreau for a bottom 9 option. Right handed, which is what we desperately need. He has possibly played his way out of Minnesota this season and teams will be willing to give him a contract that Bill Guerin shouldn't match. No more than 4 years and definitely not more than Copp is getting paid. Somwhere in the high 3 to low 5 mil range for 3-4 years. Again, probably an overpayment. A contract that would probably look bad on an elite team, but is not a problem for our books. Our window won't be open until likely the end of said contract/contracts.

Fabbri is also probably untradeable given his health.

As always I'd like to hear your feedback.

Thanks for reading.

I'm sure there could be plenty of buyers especially with retention. Would love to keep him around til summer 24, but I think he would be a good candidate for a sneaky move. Not a big haul in return but get back a prospect or roster player than our scouts like. I originally had the idea to send him back to Vegas for Paul Cotter but Vegas probably wouldn't want to part with him, and if they extend guys like Barbashev, Blueger, Howden, Kessel and want to give Dorofyev a permanent roster spot, Perron wouldnt make much sense as he would be their 38th NHL caliber forward lol.

Let me know if you have an idea of where he would fit hypothetically and practically and what you would be willing to give in return. Whether it's for a full season, half season or at the 24TDL

Why would Lindstrom be playing over Edvinsson? Chiarot will most likely be playing RD next season.

Why would we scratch Edvinsson so we can basically resign Lindstrom and have Chairot play on the left side.
If the defensive pairings look any different than
Walman-Seider
Edvinsson - FA/Trade
Maatta-Chairot
Then we're not utilizing our assets/prospects correctly lol.

Also, I'd definitely try to extend Perron before trading him; he'd be a fantastic role model to Kasper and Mazur.

Seems like too much to give a good 4th line or either 3rd line centre in 4.5m Gaudreau. Perron? The Wings are playoff contenders, I don't think he should be traded.

We gotta see what shakes out but you’re absolutely correct. We’re not moving Cotter for him.

Also, Kasper @ 4C? Why even keep him up at all if he's playing 4th line minutes (which he won't lol there's probably more chance he becomes our 2C next season than he ends up in GR)
