a guy who will be 30 in a month who has yet to start an 8 year 10.5aav contract coming off a brutal year and he's always been a wreck defensivly?

The salary cap has to considered. Huberdeau is the worse contract in the league. Starting at age 30, starting his 10.5m X 8 years. He isn't worth 5.25m X 8....if Calgary half retained him.....with no assets coming back. Half retained at 5.25m.....Calgary takes 4.75m Murray for one year. Calgary adds five second rounders. Even at that, I would say no as a Leaf.
