Description
- Wings pick best player available with how this years lotto turns out
- Talbot signing could be any veteran goalie that can provide some more confident starts unlike this year
- Wings take a chance with Granlund to rebuild value as that 3C slot has been another gaping hole which also provides Kasper a much needed year in Grand Rapids so we can hang onto his 3 year ELC
- Myers ($6M), Perron ($4.75M) & vet goalie ($2.5M) come off the books next year + $2-3M cap increase when Seider ($8M increase) @ Raymond's ($5-6M increase) deals hit the books
- Do or die season for Veleno

All in all I think this team can sneak into the playoffs with good goalie play, better defensive play and improved special teams.

I don't get the Johansen love but I wouldn't move him for Fabbri if I'm Nashville, Fabbri can't stay on the ice. Pittsburgh might do something to clear cap but I doubt it includes taking Chairot back. They'd be better keepimg Grandlund than taking him. Sure Myers , sure debrincat

RyJo is a much needed 2C that is solid on draws, plays big, allows Copp to be offensive and his $8M cap doesn't hurt us while

Overall I agree about Granlund, but lots of PITT fan despise the Granlund move. I just don't think he fits their system, but under a coaching change it might be better for them. I feel them getting ride of the $11.25M in cap while only taking on Chairot who is more than serviceable and gets a bad rep would be a better Dman in the PITT system that plays more similar to MTL or WPG where he had success.

It seems like the Preds want to move RyJo to let the younger Cs in their system develop and Fabbri can provide some scoring punch on the wing with veteran presence for a decent cap him (half of RyJo). And if Fabbri can't get on the ice at least they have $8M free now.

I think the Pens have better options. Even though he's overpriced, Petry is still a legit 2nd pairing defenseman. Ben Chairot tanked Seider so hard when they were paired together that I don't trust him on my blueline period. I don't think Zadina for Granlund makes up that difference, and Granlund's buyout is pretty reasonable.
I get the idea behind the trade, and it's an interesting one to consider. Yeah, it's more cap space to build a better supporting cast, but IMO the downgrade to our already poor defense is significant enough to counteract that.
