Description
BOS has $5m in cap space left for 23-24 (thanks to the bonuses for Krejci and Bergeron), and only 12 of their top 18 returning, so someone is going to have to move. Hall is a likely candidate. DET is a team that can take back the full contract. DET might be overpaying here a little bit due to BOS's cap situation, but Hall would slot into the first line pretty easily, and at a pretty reasonable cap hit.

Severson has great numbers as a 3/4 Dman, averaging right around 20 minutes/night this year (which is down from previous years with Hamilton coming on board). If NJD is going to lock up Meier and/or Bratt, they might not want to give Severson what he wants (plus, they have Nemec and Walsh on the farm as RHD to take over).

Depending on what VGK does in the playoffs, Hill might end up costing out of this (he played pretty good last night in relief). For now I think he'll get $3m to play as a good backup.

Johansson makes the team due to Edvinsson's injury, I resigned Suter, but I think Steve would be 50/50. Can play in all situations (either a down lineup C, or a middle 6 winger, plus time on PP and PK), which makes him valuable, just don't know what his market value will be. I also have Kasper starting with the big club, but if he's not in the top 9, he'll be in GR. Soderblom, due to his injury this past season, needs more time in GR, though he's definitely part of the future. Mazur only plays in DET if he's in the middle 6 as well.

Not a playoff team, but I think this lineup is deeper for sure.

Additional Details:
Not sure if Hall would waive, but feeling he would if BOS isn't going to be as competitive, or if others take his role (Bertuzzi).

Debrincat makes a lot more sense than Hall.

Absolutely hall, this he's done narrative is crazy, his role in Boston was just lessened and he was their best forward in the playoffs when he was needed and his role expanded. Severson is finally tasting the playoffs I doubt he goes back to another rebuild unless you way overpay him. I doubt Suter Chaisson oesterle are back.

The cost for Hall is significantly less in prospect and draft capital than for Debrincat. OTT is going to need to recoup some of the assets they gave away, you won't get Debrincat for a 2nd and a 4th, you are giving up at least (1) 1st rounder, plus other capital. And then you have to pay him. Debrincat's qualifying offer just to keep his rights in $9m, so you'll have to pay him that much next season before he becomes a UFA. Offer Sheet would be (4) 1st round picks due to that. He'll probably get ~8m/year on a longer term deal in the UFA period. Is Debrincat worth $8m/year in DET? Remember, you just paid Larkin, you'll need to start paying Seider and Raymond soon, and will want to improve the team.
