Description

Chip away little by little. Add Girard with the draft capital this season, make more legitimate adds in 2024. Acquire cap dumps to help stay cap compliant without any possibility of bonus overages rolling into the next season.

Muzzin, Mrazek, Wood, Murray, Johnson, Bailey, Zaitsev, Holden, Dickinson, Blackwell and Tinordi fall off the books (Some will be traded at the deadline i'm sure). Reassess next season with Korchinski/Soderblom/Nazar/Slaggert possibly ready for full time roles.

COL doesn’t need to do that and none of those picks are particularly high nor will add a player that helps them immediately.

Pretty sure Muzzin is never going to play again unfortunately so no need to move him. Murray may yet be needed. I could see a scenario where he plays 1B to Woll next season.

Moving Muzzin allows Toronto to accrue cap space daily since he would no longer be on LTIR. I expect Tampa Bay to try and move Seabrook as well. Accruing cap space allows teams to make more deadline moves.
