Ross Colton gets to play for his favorite team and fills a vital role on the 3rd line. Nylander trade is a hockey trade. Bratt will probably come in cheaper that what Willy will command in a year. Similar players in all but more of a shake up for both teams. I'd be happy signing Bratt and keeping Stillman if this didn't perk the interest of Toronto

Holtz for... Ross Colton? Really?
This is a bigger overpay than what Tampa gave up for Jeannot.

Also, Bratt for Nylander is a terrible move for the Devils.
The difference in ability between the two is negligible, but Bratt being an RFA and 2 years younger makes him the much better option for the allowing the Devils to be a contender for as long as possible.
Luckily there are rumblings that Fitzgerald and Bratt's camp are close to agreeing a deal.

Ottawa declines.

We'll just sign Blackwood as a UFA when he doesn't receive his QO from the Devils.

Everyone looks at a player with high skill and sees more value, like Holtz. You may think that as an overpay for Colton but he will give us something we lack and that is grit.

As far as Nylander, He's a bit more skilled than Bratt and I think you have to compensate for that. Like I said I'd be happy with Bratt signing with us.

There are lots of Colton’s out there. Don’t move Holtz for him.

The Nylander/Bratt looks ok if Bratt is signing QO and intending to be UFA in 2024. If he is signing long term, here or there, the additions should be going the other way.
