Houston isn’t even the best option in Texas, with that being said, Utah Mustangs
Houston is currently the best option in Texas... Austin would be good having no Pro Sports Teams to compete with but they have no arena, San Antonio could be an option but they already have an NBA team and they are 33% smaller than Houston with no hockey roots... regardless let's call it the Texas Coyotes for now then.
I've seen the talk, but Utah is such an odd choice, geographically it makes sense but that's it... a metro population of 1.2M to support an NHL and NBA franchise. Even Quebec would be a better choice at 0.8M as there would be unanimous support for an NHL team in Quebec and they have a real NHL arena, Utah's current arena would have to collapse the stands at the ends in order to fit the Ice... not ideal at all.
That said, if Houston (or another Texas city) isn't interested in relocation then Utah makes the most sense geographically... which is the point of the armchair team here, should Houston pursue the Coyotes or not? I think they should.
