Description
The Myers trade makes too much sense, born in Houston - saves the new franchise money while they get their feet wet and gives Vancouver much needed cap space.

Houston is the best possible candidate for the next NHL team, hands down no arguments about it. Huge city, bigger market than Arizona was, geographical rival to Dallas, owner with interest in an NHL team and an arena for one to play in, and an even more ideal fit for the Central division than Arizona was.

The question is, if you are Houston would you rather have Arizona's roster or wait for an expansion draft? I think Arizona has some good pieces, a ton of draft picks, and lots of cap space that could actually be used by new ownership if desired to improve the team via free agency or trades. Its not a bad situation - plus the relocation cost will be less than the expansion fee (and who knows how long it will be until the NHL expands again).

I'd put money on the Coyotes moving to Houston (assuming they are moving).

What do you think? If you are Houston do you pursue relocating the Coyotes or do you wait for an expansion opportunity?

By the way I'm sure they wouldn't call themselves the Coyotes, just did that for the title.

Houston isn’t even the best option in Texas, with that being said, Utah Mustangs

I hope wherever they go, they become a player and draw in ufa market, a few of the right buys and this team could be rather legit so quick.

Houston is currently the best option in Texas... Austin would be good having no Pro Sports Teams to compete with but they have no arena, San Antonio could be an option but they already have an NBA team and they are 33% smaller than Houston with no hockey roots... regardless let's call it the Texas Coyotes for now then.

I've seen the talk, but Utah is such an odd choice, geographically it makes sense but that's it... a metro population of 1.2M to support an NHL and NBA franchise. Even Quebec would be a better choice at 0.8M as there would be unanimous support for an NHL team in Quebec and they have a real NHL arena, Utah's current arena would have to collapse the stands at the ends in order to fit the Ice... not ideal at all.

That said, if Houston (or another Texas city) isn't interested in relocation then Utah makes the most sense geographically... which is the point of the armchair team here, should Houston pursue the Coyotes or not? I think they should.

Houston is the biggest market left without an NHL team, that is a prime opportunity to make a quick dollar
