The Huberdeau trade makes no sense. You would have to remove both of those players (Borgstrom is reported to have a contract with HV71 for next season). Do a 2024 1st, a 2025 seconds, and Hendrix Lapierre to even be remotely close. And he has a NMC, so he would have to want to come to the caps which i doubt would happen

If the Avs are going to trade the 1st, it will be for either a longer term fix or a better player. Kuzy has the be the 7th or 8th option for them at 2C.

If the Avs are determined to get a C and wanted Kuzy, they'd offer the 2024 1st, not this year's. If the Caps are determined to get rid of Kuzy and they're retaining for two years, they'd probably ask for a little more than the 2024 1st and the Avs would likely oblige. But I do think they're making this year's pick because they need something in the pipeline.
