Description
I think that Detroit has some interest in moving up this year to get one of the top 4 Centers in the draft. I have my eye on SJ as they are just entering a rebuild and will be looking to load up on players/picks. The issue is that I don't think they would be willing to move as far back as 9. I think they would be interested in sliding back to 6 because Michkov would likely still be available there. The issue is I think Arizona would love to land Michkov in this draft so to get them to move 6 Detroit would have to overpay. Arizona only has 1 2nd this year so I think they would be interested in adding another 2nd as well a 2024 1st to move back 3 spots. The following is a 3 team deal that hopefully benefits everyone involved.

Detroit: 4

SJ: 6, 17

Arizona: 9, BOS 2024 1st, 43

Detroit selects Smith or Carlsson at 4.

I'd give my right testicle for Carlsson. But he's not getting past Jarmo.

Yzerman isn't surrendering basically 3 1st round picks just to move up 5 spaces. 17th is probably only in play for a trade. not to move up several spots just to draft a single player.

I'd definitely consider it since the top 4 guys are all franchise guys that could be 1OA in an average year.

From Arizona point of view, they need more high end talent like we do. They have alot of picks and alot of prospects already. They will need game breakers. Also they need defencemen so good chance Reinbacher gets picked at #6, he likely doesn't make it to #9.
San Jose, just entering a rebuild yes, but they also will just take the high end talent. They are going to have a few more years of rebuild so lots of time to add prospects. They keep their pick as well.
For Detroit. We have quite a few holes in the organization that those picks could fill. Losing out on 4 good picks for one player would be tough.
That said getting what could be a franchise got could be worth it.

Yeah adding one of Carlsson or Smith would be sweet. but they're going to cost premium assets on top of those 1st round picks to move those players. Just way too expensive.
