A 2nd isn't near enough compensation to ARI for four years of salary retention.

Could be, Kings used Grans Helge and a 2nd to dump 4 years of Petersen @ 5 mil. But then again, Philly got a player, Zona gets nothing.

Yes probably for the Karlsson trade but would need to find a way to lower that retention to somewhere closer to 25% probably by paying a third team picks. Not realistic to think SJ is going to retain close to the max 50% on such a large contract for so long.

Petersen's only signed for two more years, and LA is picking up $2M retention on Provorov for that long. Plus Philly got Walker and Petersen himself, who maybe the Flyers can fix (or at least use as an AHL goalie of they can't). It was a complicated trade with a lot of moving parts, but overall Philly got a lot more from that part of it than ARI gets here.

Need another 3rd party, AZ has 1 RS slot tied up for 8 years they arent going to tie up another for 4. Plus thats 10m cash for a 2nd when AZ has 4 already next year.
