Description
Before I begin, please note this is a just the general terms of the deal that is proposed here. Minor assets can be added to even out a few kinks.

So here’s the breakdown:

The Jets get:

- Dylan Strome
(Cheveldayoff makes the best out of a bad situation and swaps PLD for Strome, who is only 1 year older than Dubois, scored 65pts last season, and most importantly is signed LONG term at a reasonable cap hit at $5mil AAV.)

The Capitals get:

- 5th overall pick
- 31st overall pick
- Riley Kidney
- Christian Dvorak
(The Caps get the Dubois “package deal” but for Strome that most people agree is fair market value for Dubois, but doesn’t fit the Jets needs. The Caps restock their prospect cupboards even further, and get to move up to 5th overall to select Michkov)

The Habs get:

- Pierre-Luc Dubois
- 8th overall pick
(Habs get to pay the “package deal” that the Jets don’t want, but is still fair market value. The cost of bringing in a third team is moving down 3 spots in the draft from 5th to 8th. Habs draft Ryan Leonard, who was their main target anyways. )

For those who will argue “why don’t the Caps just trade for Dubois, 1 for 1 with Strome?” Well, Washington probably isn’t on PLDs list of teams he would sign long term with, and they are being compensated by moving up in the draft from 8th to 5th overall.

Again, maybe a few pieces can be added to even things out, but at that point they would be minor pieces.

Caps pass as they are trying to remain competitive. Strome is a key part of that, is on a very good contract, and do not have anyone to replace him.

Could replace Strome with Kuzy, but I doubt that is something as exciting

Your deal is assuming WASH wants Dvorak+Kidney+31OV for Strome. I don't think they do.

Appreciate the effort but realistically, WSH can get both Michkov and NOT trade Strome at the same time which is the preferred situation from what I'd expect. There really isn't a need to include Strome in this 3 way. If WPG wants ready now players, they simply ship out the picks and prospects they received in the MTL deal to get them. Simply trade 5ov to Wash for 8ov+ and send MTL package to WPG and then they can deal with attempting to do what ever it is they think they should be doing.

Habs pass

To be honest, I’m not that much of a fan of the deal either.

Habs and Jets are just not good trade partners, and this is the best I can think of about bringing in a 3rd team in to make PLD to MTL work. But I’m more convinced then ever that PLD to MTL just isn’t happening.
