Description
I know it won't happen, but if I was the Habs GM, I would try to sign Leon Draisaitl to an offer sheet. In order to make this, we have to get rid of some extra players like Plekanec and Mitchell. We would finally have a great offense and a great defense( if you include Carey Price) This team would finally have a chance at a Stanley Cup.

I've done a million efforts at trading for a center here, and it seems that Backstrom+Orpik (the latter has negative trade value) makes most sense. Caps really need to dump Orpik one way or another, and they could realistically allow Kuzy to take his rightful spot as 1C. Something along the lines of B+O for Galchenyuk, Juulsen, 1st, 2nd is realistic.

I wouldn't trade for any high price players if I were the Habs. Let this team run it's course, say cap and the draft picks. 10m for a guy who is proven to a # 1 centre?

i like this idea , mtl need to do something or will strive for mediocrity for a while ...byron is the best rw atm ... tunnel vision gallagher should stay away from east-west player like the 2 other .. i suggest byron there for defensive purpose . On the other hand i doubt ChIarelli let that happens . I can envision him on the phone asking for a 1st , replying to himself oh you have none so a 2nd this and that and also that scrub part and then Draisalt would be on his way to anywhere but Mtl .

yes Orpik has negative value to us, but not the GM in WSH. He already stated that he sees him as a top-4 defender and mentor for the new defenseman. If you think about it he basically traded MJo and Schmidt just to keep him. If he bought out Orpik or gave up assets to move him both those players were on the team, but he value Orpik more than both and decided to keep him..
