Oilers do not even try to make this trade either. Jones does not work with the future cap situation. Oilers will bank that Nurse and Benning continue to grow as Sekera and Russel likely regress a bit

Agree completely. Oilers need to dump salary. They will very soon be a team like Chicago & Pittsburg, with 2 superstars and a whole crew of scrubs to fill in the gaps. They will need value players who are in twilight of career who take value contracts in hopes of winning the Cup. Good luck with that. It is a slippery slope and GM & coach really need to be on top of their game to pull it off.
