Ottawa declines. Ottawa is in a cap crunch and there are much better ways to spend $1.75M with the UFAs remaining... if we had it to spend.

Edmonton doesn't have the cap space to bring in anyone over about $900k. Maybe by the deadline they will have accrued more, we'll see.

BUT, Ken Holland has never paid a 1st for a rental, so this idea is a no-go.

AZU could also retain on him making him 0.875... but really? Who else is better than Boyd for 1.75M that OTT could get for a future 3rd exactly? He's a very good 3C/2RW that's been playing 1/2C because of the team he's on.

1st of all, the Oilers don’t have enough cap space to trade for Dumba. They still need to sign Bouchard with little cap space. Maybe they could accumulate a little more by the 2024 trade deadline.

2nd of all, Ken Holland isn’t going to pay a 1st round pick for a player who’s contract is expiring.

It doesn't matter if ARI retains. Ottawa needs to create cap space to sign Pinto, giving up an asset to take on more cap is not in the cards.
Now if ARI was willing to take a 2nd and Joseph in exchange there might be a conversation to be had.
Personally, I'd rather take on Motte as a UFA and not give up a pick.
