Description

Don't worry too much on the return for Petry and DeSmith, they are just passing through and any return is a bonus. Petry has quite a lot of value with full retention, but too many teams are cap strapped so best to move his contract in full for lesser value. In the end, we essentially traded Hoffman and Pitlick for a 2nd and an AHLer, which is an unexpectedly high return, so anything on top of that is a bonus.

Petry doesn't waive for Anaheim, Pretty sure he winds up in Dallas with a cap dump like Faska heading for Montreal.

Canucks don't have the cap space for DeSmith, probably can get a better goalie than DeSmith for a 4th as well.

A lower pick than a 4th would be fine too, not sure about the cap implications for the Canucks however. DeSmith traded to any team for some draft pick not exceeding a 4th
