Yeah it is you're expecting him to take about a 35% reduction in AAV and a 50% reduction in term compared to what he believes is fair. He's looking at a guarantee of 4.6 million over the next 2 years your offering 1.5 and he's on the hook if he has a career ending injury playing on that Club uber friendly deal.
Yeah but it's not only about what HE thinks is fair... First he didn't have arbitration rights, secondaly, when you look at what other forwards have signed coming out of their ELCs (or even their 3rd contract), he is asking for more than he is worth... Frost, McLeod, Cates, Glass, Dellandrea, Harvey-Pinard, etc. Look at all these AAVs vs the term. That is why The Athletic valued his 2 years extension at 1.78 AAV about a month ago
It seems that is agent is pushing hard to get as most as possible when he could actually signed for cheap this season and sign his long term extension as soon as January, in 3 months

It's like Coltons last contract with TB f**Ed them, playing hardball will bite Dorian in the A$$ too. GLWT
Dorion will most likely not be there though... so it'd be a clean slate with the organization for Pinto
