Description
Hear me out: Thanks to BT's panic move to dump Monahan, Calgary needs to mitigate the potential of losing a 2-10 OA pick. Thus, Calgary needs Florida to perform well enough this year for their 2024 1st Rounder to go to Philly so they can receive their 2025 1st rounder. It's looking like Calgary wont have a 20-32 pick this year, so that means their 2025 pick is up for grabs. If the Flames get Florida’s 2025 first-round pick and both Calgary and Florida are not in the top 10, then Montreal gets the better of the two picks in 2025. The best scenario: If Calgary’s pick is top 10 and Florida’s pick is not top 10, then Montreal would receive Florida’s pick. Thus, the only way for Calgary to truly rebuild is to make sure Florida wins and they tank hard.

- Retain on Zadorov, take on Reilly so Florida can have him to bolster their defense.
- Hanifin to AZ so they can push for the playoffs.
- Seattle gets Lindholm to give them depth at center, Vladar to provide a seasoned back up.
- Vancouver - Maybe garland for Coleman doesn't happen. irrelevant IMO

Calgary starts Driedger 50/50 with Markstrom to ensure we suck enough this year.
Trades
1.
CGY
  1. Reilly, Mike
  2. 2025 4th round pick (CGY)
  3. 2026 3rd round pick (FLA)
Additional Details:
Calgary retains effectively for nothing.
FLA
  1. Zadorov, Nikita
Additional Details:
1875000
2.
CGY
  1. Räty, Aku
  2. Söderström, Victor
  3. 2026 1st round pick (ARI)
3.
CGY
  1. Driedger, Chris
  2. Fisker Mølgaard, Oscar [Reserve List]
  3. Fleury, Cale
  4. Wennberg, Alexander
  5. 2024 3rd round pick (SEA)
  6. 2024 3rd round pick (TOR)
  7. 2026 1st round pick (SEA)
Additional Details:
Wennberg is to clear Lindholm's cap. Lindholm is for Fleury, OFM and a 1st. This gives Seattle a legitimate 2C. Vladar gives Seattle insurance in net and Calgary takes on Drieger's cap hit.
4.
CGY
  1. Beauvillier, Anthony
  2. Celebrini, Aiden [Reserve List]
  3. Garland, Conor
  4. 2026 2nd round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
Original Deal was Beauvillier, Celbrini, and a 2nd for Tanev.
Is Garland for Coleman a reasonable hockey deal and change of scenery for both?

AZ does this, they need hanifin CAL needs more 1st, raty is decent prospect, and soderstrom prolly needs a change of scenery but should be a decent bottom 4 D

The Coyotes will not be trading for Hanifin. Not giving up first round picks.

Florida needs to finish bottom 10 for that pick not to transfer to Philly or win the lottery next year for the pick not to transfer to Calgary. The chances of that are extremely unlikely. Especially with them currently sitting 2nd in the Atlantic and 3rd in the East at the moment, all while both Montour and Ekblad are out for another 2-5 weeks.

You are definitely overreacting.

As for the trades.
Flames decline all of them

You Trade Hanifin, Lindholm, Tanev and Zadorov and don’t even bring back a single 2024 1st Round Pick!?!

Zadorov’s worth more (see MTL’s Chiarot and CLB’s Savard)

Add Dumba and Langlois to the Hanifin Trade (see ANA’s Hampus Lindholm and CLB’s Gavrikov Trades)

SEA Trade is meh, Lindholm should bring back what Eichel brought back with a lesser Player than Tuck and maybe one less pick = 2024-1st/Top-10 Prospect + Top Prosect/Former 1st Rounder + Roster Player(s) for Cap Reasons

Coleman has a NMC this season and is playing as expected for us

Tanev should fetch a 2024/25 1st-Top 12 Protected + a Sweetener to Win the Tanev Sweepstakes and if there’s 50% retention add a 3rd and if that team needs 75% retention add a 4th or upgrade that 3rd to a 2nd

Unless Florida's Goaltenders get injured, they lose another defenseman, or Tkatchuk goes down... my point is that it is a precarious situation, and a terrible trade. Calgary should have rebuilt the minute Tkatchuk requested out.

The expectation we are going to get a haul for every player isn't realistic. What did our leading scorer get us last year? A 3rd, and Sharengovich...
