I mean, I appreciate the effort on the Gibby trade but a couple things:

I don’t think Verbeek nor Samueli’s want to retain nearly 8 million on Gibson throughout the remainder of his deal, I do think more around $900,000 could happen though

1st and a prospect probably feels like where a trade would end up settling — we would want a RW sniper as that prospect, maybe even a LW but still a sniper to pair with all our playmakers we already have

What would you say if there was some kind of offer looking like: Gibson ($900,000 retained) for 24 1st (lotto protection) RW/LW prospect and Kochetkov

Despite his struggles, I do not think the Canes would/should trade Koch. I think the plan with him was another season in the minors but that didn’t and couldn’t happen. His inconsistency needs to be addressed and the only way is playing time.

I think the Canes would only be interested in Gibson at around 4.5m - which seems to be the sweet spot for them.

That much retention simply will not happen in Anaheim. The team is consistently bottom 5 in attendance and haven't had a sniff of extra playoff revenue for 5 seasons and counting. The team also doesn't need to eat money to make cap (San Jose, Nashville, etc).

I’m sure that Gibson could be brought down to around 4.5mil one way or another. If it means bringing in a 3rd team, I think a deal can be arranged. As for value, I think the Ducks might want another piece, especially if they were to eat about 1.9mil.

Overall, it’s not terrible, but as much as I love Arvy, I don’t think LA has any intent to move him this season.
