Description
I think one thing most of my fellow Habs fans will agree on is the rebuild is missing a major piece. A game breaking offensive talent and they are tough to come by so it won’t come cheap. I’m talking a roster player, a 1st and a top prospect.

So here is my question to all of you.
If you were Hugo would you agree to include either Lane Hutson or Kaiden Guhle in a package deal if it meant getting that game breaking talent?

No not either, Hutson will be a gamebreaker from the back end and Guhle is the only LHD who can play top pairing both now and in the future. If you trade him who is going to be your 23+ minute a game LHD? Hutson won't be able to do that and none of Struble, Harris, Xhekaj, Engstrom or Norlinder are good enough to even consider trying it.

I think "game-breaking" we should be talking at the minimum, Celebrini (which would be a good target). IMO, we have 4 guys with 80+ pt potential in the attack, but probably not a 105-115 pt guy, which is what we would trade for. So I would be opened (lets say we draft 9th OA this year) to possibly give Hutson to go and get Celebrini. However, I'm not sure its quite the move we should make though

No. Plenty of other pieces to trade away.

Offensive talent without a strong Dcore doesn't win playoffs games. See: Toronto.

I think this question shows a misunderstanding for where wins come from. Many high scoring teams cannot win because of poor defense.

Guhle held Connor Bedard in check last game. He has similarly held McDavid and Crosby in check on nights during his brief career. He really is not replaceable.

As for Hutson, offense starts from the Blueline. If you look at NYR, VAN, COL - they wouldn't trade their best offensive defender for a 1st line winger or center. I would hold Hutson in hopes he can be that guy for us.
