Big deadline moves

If I look honestly at our team, we still aren't a Stanley Cup contender even with Guentzel in the lineup. I wouldn't hurt our future by giving that much for a rental. I would consider doing it if I thought we could afford to keep him next year, but we can't.

What if the Penguins took some cap back like Kuzmenko. And it was a trade + extension sort of deal

On one hand, Smith would certainly give Bedard some short term help. On the other hand, I doubt CHI is paying a 3rd for short term help at this years deadline, though. You never know, though.

I like the Lavoie add in the Campbell dump. I think he is an underrated asset. Him and Drew O'Connor on a line would be a beast mode bottom 6 line. I also think EDM should absolutely jump at that offer. Because that is the best it is gonna get before this years TDL. Sure, Jarry means they don't clear the cap space, but he is still a good young-ish goaltender.

Can't see the Hawks giving up a likely top 70 pick for 1 year of Smith. Smith might be a decent option for RW on Bedard's line next season, but don't see them giving up more than a 4th at most.

Zero chance Lekkerimaki could be included. He'll be ready in a couple years when Kuz and Boeser's deals are up. Canucks will need that.
