If those were the costs for those players, I would rather pay the Zegas cost and bring him to Vancouver than the Guentzel cost. Zegas is a player VAN would get a lot of years out of and plays centre which gives the team a lot more flexibility with their lines. It would be very difficult for VAN to resign Guentzel and it would come at the cost of a D or C piece.

Horrible deal for Ottawa. Aman and a 1st is a bad deal to begin with, and Ottawa takes a bad long term contract too? Not even close

Only thing I can think of to add, which is just reinforcement and not addition: Smith is about to turn 33 and is signed for only one more season, and he's the best element in this offer.
