Description
It'll be interesting to see what the Blues do come trade deadline. I think they should still sell a bit but the odds of them doing that are going down every game they win. They sit 1 point out of a playoff spot and could pass both LA and Nashville with a win over LA on Sunday.

I think below is what the Blues could realistically do around the deadline.
If a team makes a serious offer for Hayes you have to take it or highly consider it. I think the Rangers will come calling especially with the recent news about Chytil.
Faulk has truly become expendable to me with the emergence of Kessel. I'd like to move him and get younger on the blueline.
Lastly, I think Kap could go to a contender or team looking to add some high energy and a good locker room guy. Walker has filled in nicely for Kap and I wouldn't have a problem moving him if we could get a younger player or pick in return.

Realistically, if the Blues are in a playoff spot I don't see them shipping out Scandella, Sunny, or Blais for next to nothing of a return. No point in doing that and could just keep them for a playoff push.

The turcotte and faulk trades are more just for fun. More realistically, if faulk gets moved it will be for futures and/or a younger defensive prospect. If we don't get an NHL defender back in return for faulk then leddy doesn't get moved and the LA trade would never happen.

Blues fans what do you think the Blues should do as we get closer to the TDL?
Trades
1.
STL
  1. 2024 1st round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
This or maybe a 2nd with conditions to become a first. I only see Hayes being moved for a high pick or a good prospect.
Maybe trade Hayes for Schneider but I doubt they would do that unless they acquire a veteran defender like Tanev at the TDL.
NYR
  1. Hayes, Kevin ($1,785,714 retained)
2.
STL
  1. Samuelsson, Mattias
Additional Details:
I'm a fan of Samuelsson and I doubt Buffalo would decide to move him but if they want veteran leadership and a good top 4 defender to play the right side then here's Faulk.
Buffalos left side is loaded with Dahlin and Power and a ton of prospects, they need RHD help desperately and the Blues need a LHD to play with Parayko.
3.
STL
  1. Turcotte, Alex
Additional Details:
The Blues get a former top prospect in Turcotte and LA gets veteran help as they desperately try to right the ship and keep their playoff hopes alive.

I know people will say Turcotte isn't available and I get that but at some point he's going to request a trade and force his way out. He's stuck behind 3 centers on the NHL roster so his only hope of top 9 is to play on the wing. On top of that they don't even give him a call up even after his recent AHL success and the recent downfall in LA. A parting needs to happen before it's too late for him.

It's hard to predict his value but a top 4 dman, top 9 winger, and a 3rd seems pretty fair.
LAK
  1. Kapanen, Kasperi ($1,600,000 retained)
  2. Leddy, Nick ($2,000,000 retained)
  3. 2024 3rd round pick (STL)

I don't see NYR doing that. The whole team is in a free fall.

I dont think its beyond the realm of possibility the Sabres move on from Samuelsson, but probably not for a player like Faulk.

I did not anticipate them being a few points out of a playoff spot at this juncture of the season. If we are either ending the season outside the top 10 or being a wild card, we minus well go for it. I don’t think the prospects in this draft are game breaking after the top 6 or 7. Even if the Blues make the playoffs and select 17 or 18 we could potentially get someone like Yakemchuk or Jiricek which fills our needs.

I don’t think any defensive changes will be made this TDL unless we are out. I’d love to get Samuelsson for Faulk but doubt that would go through. I’d target a RW honestly and not give up a lot for them. I think targeting Kakko could be a solid play. He’s young enough to where he just needs an extra push that he isn’t getting in New York. We’d need to move out cap and that could be where Hayes comes into play. Hayes for Kakko straight up perhaps.

Buchnevich - Thomas - Kyrou
Neighbours - Schenn - Kakko
Saad - Sundqvist - Kapanen
Walker - Alexandrov - Toropchenko
Leddy - Parayko
Perunovich - Faulk
Krug - Kessel
Binnington - Hofer

It’s extremely unlikely.
