Description
Bored and wanted to do something different than the normal TDL selling especially with the Blues back in a playoff spot. I think Army will try to be very active around the deadline in hopes of making this team both younger and better. That's a challenging task but not completely impossible.

Below are some ideas for trades he could target. I think he will look for players under 26 that can come in and make a difference. These players could be players that need a change of scenery or simply players that a losing team is looking to move.

I like the idea of moving Faulk at the deadline. He's a very solid defender but the Blues need to be thinking long term and we need to shed his salary to some contender before that contract gets bad. Right now I would say he's paid about right, maybe slightly overpaid but still. I've loved Kessels game, I think ideally he's on the 3rd pair but if he has to play top 4 minutes I think he's very capable of doing that and moving Faulk gives him a chance to prove he can continue to play those top minutes.
Also, I'd love to see the Blues move Leddy around the deadline. He's played top pair all year and has respectable numbers. Some team has to find value in that but for the Blues he's blocking Perunovich and we have defenders like Lindstein and Buchinger coming shortly on the left side as well.

Trades
1.
STL
  1. Chychrun, Jakob
Additional Details:
Do I think the Blues are the right team for Chychrun, not necessarily but once again it's being reported that the Blues are interested in him. I think he has less value than when he was traded to Ottawa as he needs to be extended soon and this will be his second time being moved in back to back seasons.
OTT
  1. Bolduc, Zachary
  2. Leddy, Nick
  3. 2024 1st round pick (STL)
2.
STL
  1. Kaliyev, Arthur
Additional Details:
Kaliyev could be on the move at the deadline and the Blues should be in on him. He's a young player with potential to be a great goal scorer some day. Concerns about effort are there so I don't think his return will be massive. Right now he's stuck on the 4th line for LA and he doesn't belong there. Here, they get some vets that are more suited for the playoffs and bottom roles.
LAK
  1. Kapanen, Kasperi ($1,600,000 retained)
  2. Scandella, Marco ($1,637,500 retained)
  3. 2024 3rd round pick (STL)
3.
STL
  1. Faksa, Radek
  2. 2024 1st round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
The Blues move Faulk and role with Kessel as a top 4 defender for the rest of the year. For Dallas, it's stanley cup or bust this year and they could really use another defender to solidify their defense for years to come.

This trade doesn't have to be Dallas but I think the Blues could look to move Faulk as of all our dmen he is the easiest to move. I think with any team we could get a late first and a cap dump.
4.
STL
  1. Barron, Justin
Additional Details:
I always get iffy reviews on Barron. Some like him, some want to move him for nothing. I think at the end of the day Montreal has a lot of defenders in their farm system and with Barron starting to see less ice time and just getting sent to the AHL, he could be on the move shortly.

Here, Montreal gets a likely top 50 pick, Dean who was a former first rounder who's really struggled in the AHL (he hasn't been given good ice time so that could be playing a part), and then Vrana who has no value at all but Montreal could give him a shot and has nothing to lose taking a chance on him.
MTL
  1. Dean, Zach
  2. Vrána, Jakub
  3. 2024 2nd round pick (STL)

The Kings might move Kaliyev, but they'll be looking for something that will stick around for longer than 6 weeks. The only thing enticing to LA in that return is the 3rd round pick, and that's not enough.
