That is a crazy return for a backup goalie, I don't know if any team in the NHL is giving up a 1st for injury insurance

Columbus accepts. I doubt Washington entertains retaining on Dowd or Lindgren. They're so cheap already, that there's no sense locking up a retention slot through next season for less than $1M. They'd probably send them to another team that doesn't need/want retention even if it's for slightly less.

I'm a Caps fan, I've got no problem retaining on Dowd if it ensures a 1st going the other way. The cap situation next year in Washington is pretty open
