I'd hold off on acquiring a player with a decent cap hit (over 3mil) going into next season until I've resigned Mercer, just what I'd do not saying trading for Smith is a bad Idea

Totally agree. This would not be too bad of a contract considering that Schneider is off the books ( might pencil McLeod in there as well) and a few others

I'd accept this offer as is, yes. I think I'd also accept a 24 3rd and 25 2nd for a Ned + Smith package?

Actually ignore what I said, even with that 5mil and Mercer at 7ishmil NJD should have around 8-9mil to get a #1 goalie and fill out the 4th line. Even more money if the move Vanacek out. They are in a better cap situation than I thought
