Because the front office made a plan to rebuild and regardless of the situation they are sticking to that plan. The GM, Head coach and president have all publicly stated that they will be sellers at the deadline. They might consider adding a young controllable player in the right deal but that feels like an offseason move.

Kubalik is worth like a 4th at most, you can probably get him for as low as a 5th or 6th
