Hawks aren't paying for your cap dump.

-Ah, the ol' "14 piece trade" that we know is so common and realistic. It's also horrendous for the Leafs - they're giving up arguable the three best assets (Minten, Knies, Liljegren) to bring in a bunch of bottom-6/bottom pair grinders. McBain is a solid player but not a guy you would stick on the top line, Hayton hasn't continued any of the success he showed last season, and the other three are all 6/7th D type candidates. If you offered this to the Coyotes they'd say yes before you finished listing the last half-dozen things you're offering them.

-Chicago has no use for Kampf and would view him as a cap dump with 3x$2.4M left. I do think there are contending teams that would view Kampf positively but I think you'd have to retain some cap to get back anything useful there.

-Any trade where you're giving up the superstar to get back multiple pieces is a trade you're going to lose, even if this offers you more flexibility. I think the only way you make this kind of trade is if Mitch Marner comes up to you and says "I would rather retire at 27 than spend another year in Toronto."
