Players I would move if a first round loss

To comment on players. First Reaves, his contract seems high but it was actually signed with the ability to drop him to the minors and clear 1.1 million in cap space. Also his play has been great since coming back from injury. As for Kampf, he does have offensive upside but only as a 4c and still not worth 2.4 million. Of he was signed between 1.5 and 1.75, I would not complain. Either way it is a guy I am willing to let go of. Ditto for Jarnkrok. He is paid good for his services as a 3rd line winger capable or 15-20 goals and great defensively but he is also replaceable. So saving is salary is good too.

As for Marner, same goes as I said for Nylander. We would need an equivalent winger posting 82-100 points back or a true top 2 defenseman coming back. With Nylander he was apparently dangled and no one offered a comparable defenseman back. It was all futures based and our winning timeline is within 4-5 years most likely so a futures based deal is not feasible when considering it usually takes 4-5 years to develop.cant work the trade prior to UFA without knowing whom we can sign and if we sign first, then we look desperate and team may lower the offers for Marner.

All told I am fine with trading Marner just don't see the feasibility.

Half our D core is comprised of 6th defenders. Bush, Benoit, Edmundson. We need legitimate help on the back end. Somebody like Tanev would have been stellar, even big Z.

If we're moving Marner, it should be for a big add on the back end + a young forward.

I totally agree and hence the comment. Nylander was not offered anything close to that according to reports. If that is true, hen we can think similar for Marner making a trade with him seemingly unlikely for what would make it worth it. Our defence has strengths but yes comprised of mostly 4-6 defenders. Reilly is on most cup teams considered to 2-3. So can he be a 1, potentially with the depth. MCabe is at best a 3. Liljegren is at best a 4 but young and still developing yes defenders grow to like age 28 for primes for some.
If that works that leaves us with missing another 1-2 defenceman. That could be good but now we need depth as injuries happen so need a defender capable of playing 3-5 in D range. Benoit, Lyubushkin, Edmundson Brodie, Gio are all 4-6 or lower ranger Defenders.
This yes, our D core needs improvement. And improvement is not just big Z or Tanev. We acquired similar players while yes overall lesser and our D has no improved. Going back from our Sandin trade, we could not move the puck out of our zone as puck movers are needed too. Hence why we tried Klingberg but that was a colossal failure. We need more of a Pesce, Skjej, Montour. A good capable defender preferably right handed that can also move the puck.

Kampf has been exactly what they signed up for. Defensive C who can play PK, and with the right wingers can be effective on the forecheck-- his job is not to be a 20+ goal scorer.
Reaves - also what they expected. He's been great in the the 2 playoff games so far, but is not an every day NHLer-- he is still the definition of enforcer who can be effective downlow on forecheck.
Jarnkrok is a $2.1 utility player that you can trust in all situations- and Keefe loves him for it.
--None of these contracts should be an issue-- but with money tied up elsewhere they seem cumbersome.

Marner isn't going anywhere-- dictated by his contract if nothing else. His turnovers have been baffling at times, and he has been difficult to watch a lot this year, even when producing.

The usual non thinking straight. Kampf isn't waiving to a non playoff team with cap. By the way, Kampf as many goals as any Leafs player this playoffs.
Same with Jarnkrok. He has M NTC also. Jarnkrok at 2.1m is fair value
Reaves, if he such bad value, the Leafs can just bury him with minimal cap hit. But since he has been playing regularly, he has been fine.
NMC Marner being traded is not logical at all. Not resigning him, I understand.
