And I'm not sure why people have interest in Patrik Laine? he's missed some 145 games over a 6 year period and being on the NHLPAP or the past 4 months or so isn't a good sign.

Jackets easily decline. They aren’t trading laine for scraps. Have a feeling this is the new Jenner to the leafs or Kent Johnson to the Habs for jackets fans on this site

can't see CBJ moving Laine until mid point of the season.
Which will go one of two ways. He will either play well, like he has when not hurt and restore his value.
Or he'll probably be hurt, look like it's a bust situation for him in CBJ, and CBJ will simply move on from that cap hit accepting the low value.
Either way they will give him a chance to regain that value.
The question of him being traded isn't really a question. Odds are very low he stays in CBJ, so the move is the best option at some point to get something out of him leaving.
