I doubt the Hawks would spend draft capital on a LD that can sometimes play the right side. They'll look for a RD in free agency or use Kaiser/Crevier on the right side if necessary. Not saying Kulak is bad, just that he's a bad fit for the team.

Very slim chance the Hawks invest draft to acquire a depth d-man. On top of that they will be able to find a much more cap friendly option then Kulak’s $2.75m per season.

I disagree that Kulak is a depth d, fringe 2nd pairing guy, who's a beast in the playoffs. But I just don't see the fit with Chicago, unless he was a RH dman.

In Chicago he would be slotted behind Jones and Murphy on the right side.

The Hawks probably wouldn’t even consider him for the left side since they are developing their young guys and wouldn’t want to strip away ice time and opportunity from the likes of Vlasic, Korchinski, Kaiser, Del Mastro and Allan.

So in Chicago he would be a depth piece filling the role that Tinordi, Megna and Zaitsev had this past season.

Pretty incredible that Kostin is at Oilers playoff games wearing his Oilers sweater and cheering for the team. I don't know when I've seen that before - guys don't usually show in public their fandom of another team.
