Anaheim doesn't have to rush. They are set up to be a power house for many many years without trading for Matthews.

While I don't it would be smart for them to trade Mintyukov (if they are trading for Matthews, their defense better be solid), there's no guarantee that Anaheim will be a powerhouse. There are plenty of other teams that could be expected to be powerhouses based on their prospects/young players that they have or will have like BUF, CBJ, CHI, MTL, NJ, and UTAH. So, even if by today's standard they might be a powerhouse, down the road they could just be another strong team.

Don't think the trade would be worthwhile for the Leafs, especially without the 2024 pick (they could get their pick of the litter on D most likely), but if ANA can get Matthews for Zegras+a top prospect+future 1st+ roster player it would be worthwhile exploring. Personally, I think they are better off trading Gauthier than Mintyukov though since they would already have an abundance of top-6 talent and still have an elite goal scorer in Matthews.
