Seems strange to me that the Leafs get two draft picks for 2.1m Jarnkrok, but then can sign UFA Sherwood for 1.6m

Jarnkrok isn’t physical and isn’t a playoff performer. Good versatile forward, but isn’t physical or clutch. Sherwood is an energy bug who’s very physical and would be a great addition in the B6

So if true, why doesn't Sherwood sign with Kings for 2.1m (better for Sherwood and the KIngs). And the Kings don't have to give up two picks for the better player

The trading an inferior player with more cap and then signing a superior player with less cap really doesn't hold much logic.

Jarnkrok’s still a much better player and cheap. But we don’t need him and should give the opportunity to younger players in the T9. Plus we need picks and could get a decent pick for a guy who’s versatile, can score 20, and is decent defensively. McMann provides what he does at a cheaper cost and Sherwood fits nicely on L4 imo
