A whole lot of uncertainty for a guaranteed nhl star is not great. I wouldn't trade Caufield for that.

Devils decline both.

Caufield is decent player (and yes, friend of Jacks). But isn’t really a need for us. And a package of Mercer plus 10th overall opens a lot of doors that could fill needs. (And probably returns any available piece this off season)

Mangiapane, Markstrom would come far cheaper. Maybe the 2nd for Markstrom, but Casey, Schmid for Mangiapane is silly.
