Description
*Highly Optimistic Approach*

Team lands a Top 7 pick and drafts a potentially elite RHD prospect. Anisimov continues his strong 17-18 season and is sold high in the offseason (considering he stays healthy). Hawks get a possible goalie of the future as Forsberg plays out his final year of deal as Crawfords backup while FG develops in Rockford.

Jokiharju impresses in camp as Debrincat did and earns a roster spot to start year. D continues to get younger and quicker, meanwhile Bouchard is a year away.

Hawks are able to reach deals with both Sikura and Shalunov, and bring back their RFA's on affordable deals. Rutta walks for more $ and depth options were traded at 17-18 TDL for draft picks. Youth movement in full effect.

Lines are simply what I would like to see. In this situation, they would have plenty of money to spend in FA (this would be contingent on Hossa retiring without a cap penalty, or simply remaining on LTIR). They would have a lot of options here, but I threw JVR in as a hypothetical because I think he would fit great with Schmaltz and Kane.

I would find it extremely likely Bowman uses this cap space to sign or trade for a legitimate Top 4 D-man, as this D core is still not good enough, and obviously Dunc and Seabs would be another year older.

Bouchard and FG both start in Rockford, shown here for organizational depth sake.

There is no way the Hawks will have an opportunity to get their hands on Evan Bouchard at the 2018 draft. One way or another, whether the Leafs trade one of their upcoming UFAs at the deadline (JVR obviously gets the biggest return and likley a 1st round draft pick) for additional picks and/or trade up, Bouchard will be a Leaf :P While I am joking just a little bit, consider that the Leafs draft guru, Mark Hunter, has his strongest deepest ties with the London Knights. As long as Bouchard is drafted outside the top 5, I firmly believe the Leafs will make an extremely strong play to draft him.

Yeah don't see the Hawks being bad enough for a top 7 picks and JVR will only accept that kind of deal with the Leafs on the open market he wants far more.

Imagine if we also brought JVR back in free agency.. wouldn't happen because of our forward depth but that would be cool

I'd like to be optimistic for the lottery, but a NJD situation probably isn't happening in back to back years. (yes I understand the 1st overall and top 7 is different)
