Description
Mindset:

Unload Beleskey's contract and use Spooner + a Rd 2-3 pick to a team with space
IMO Chara will be retiring after the 2019 season

Use that money to make room for extensions for McAvoy + Heinen + McDonagh

make it a 2nd and keep Spooner and CJ would love Belesky in MTL
260 hits his last full season under him and although his cap sucks beyond belief
for a 2nd pick we'd take him on because next time Emelin cheap shots our rookie
i'd love to be able to unleash more then Deslauriers on them :P

Rather save the assets and just sign McDonagh as a UFA when he walks from the Rangers....or whatever team trades for him.

Rangers - No thanks

Good. Because it's a 'no thanks' from the Bruins also. Your expectations on a return for McD are absolutely ridiculous. When he does get traded you will probably be underwhelmed with the return for the Rangers.

Ooof ok. Well the point here is that Carlo just isn't very good. He gets demolished by Deangelo in every category. And Bjork just doesn't have a high ceiling at all. But here is what teams can expect to pay based on what teams have already paid:

Last year Shattenkirk gets a 1st + Zach Sanford who started the year as the Blues #2-3 prospect depending on who you ask and a conditional pick that could turn into a 2nd. That was for 3 MONTHS OF PLAY. Going by that logic, why not double that. It'd be the sensible calculation. But we won't because we're being sensible.

Then we have the Keith Yandle deal: a 1st, a 2nd, Duclair (who had 8 points in 18 games at 19), and John Moore, former 1st rounder who is now in the Devils top 4. No one who watches them both will argue that McDonagh is a better all around defensemen. Most of us are basing our deal in this format.

But hey let's look back even further. 2009 a 35 Year Old Chris Pronger gets traded to the Flyers. In return he gets 2 1sts, a 2nd, 25 year old 50 point scorer Jeffrey Lupul, recent 1st round pick that year Luca Sbisa. Pronger was 35. McDonagh isn't Pronger except that he's 7 years younger.

But you guys don't need him anyway, your D is already totally fine.
