Description
SJS likely signing Couture long term July 1 and likely can't afford Pavelsi long term. WPG won't want Stastny for the same price but +2-4 years of term he'll get on the open market so Pavelski replaces Stastny to give Roslovic another year to develop in a lower role.

Doesn’t really upgrade the Flames where they need it. I doubt they would be interested.

I like the direction you went with Pavelski, but I think a better trade target for the same rationale would be Eric Staal. Minnesota is entering a rebuild and they have a cheaper center who is even more offensively prolific. 1 year left or not Pavelski is the captain, and I doubt they trade away their guy as they kick off a new campaign as contenders.

As for the Flames trade, I think you could take out Armia and add in a 2nd and 3rd round pick. Once we address our 2019 cap problem, which you've done with these trades, our most pressing need is a RHD who can replace Buff in 3 years. You've addressed that too. Because of that, our draft picks lose a lot of value to the Jets. We'll have our top 9 locked up for the next 5 years. Our Left hand side of D will be set for years with JoMo, Niku, and Samberg, and our Right hand side will be set with Trouba, Andersson, and Poolman or Kovacevic. Draft picks for the next year or two will lose a lot of personal value. Also Armia is a huge upgrade over Tanev for the small cost of an extra .5-1.5 million dollars. He's upgraded his point totals every year he's played for us, is a bottom 6 possession monster, and leads the Jets in defensive takeaways. He's criminally underrated.

Doubt the Sharks trade Pavelski for that. Even as a long term rental. He's the captain. It would take more.

Pavelski very restrictive NTC probably includes Winnipeg as "no trade to".
