I'm pleasantly surprised by that trade. I think it could work for both teams. Maybe don't need the pick thrown in there. A one for one here makes sense. Babcock likes Glendening's game. Toronto gets a center that wins faceoffs, kill penalties effectively, and is reliable in the defensive end. Detroit gets a comparable player with a bit more scoring upside. The roster is a bit short, need to bring 2 more players to get to 23. Rasmussen is off the roster and I think he makes it over Zadina. I would have both Rasmussen and Zadina in the lineup. I'm also not a fan of Daley running the second power play, I think Hronek will be given the chance to run it. The Larkin signing is on the lower end, but I can him taking a home town discount.

Why buy Franzen out? His contract is full covered under LTIR (it will kick in when the season starts) and he hasn't retired so there's no cap recapture penalty.

Other than that the team looks good, but I don't see the Wings making the playoffs this year. Which I think is good thing, give the wings another high pick and give Kenny more prospect depth. In a couple of years most of these bad contracts are gone, and the team has way more flexibility for trading/free agency. Wings are not contenders yet, but are in great shape for the future imo.

Franzen on LTIR and bury Ericsson so we don’t buy two more years of cap hit
