Description
15 games into the season MTL has 2 wins. Bergevin is fired, new GM Patrick Roy is immediately on the phone to Carolina to "shake things up" and start a true rebuild. New Hurricanes owner decides to solve a bunch of roster problems at once and blow his $18M in cap space away.

Trades
CAR
  1. Byron, Paul
  2. Danault, Phillip
  3. Pacioretty, Max
  4. Price, Carey
  5. Scherbak, Nikita
Additional Details:
Hurricanes get their top goalie, plus lots of extra goal scoring depth for the top 6 in Patch, Byron and Scherbak. Danault provides centre depth for loss of Necas. Carolina has lots of depth of right D, so Fox is expendable.
MTL
  1. Fox, Adam
  2. Darling, Scott
  3. Kuokkanen, Janne
  4. Necas, Martin
  5. 2019 1st round pick (CAR)
  6. 2020 2nd round pick (CAR)
Additional Details:
Habs get a top RHD prospect (Fox), top C prospect (Necas), and promising LW prospect (Kuokkanen) plus good draft picks. Take back Darling to make room for Price.

And that's why Roy won't be GM.

I think you are forgetting that if we have those guys on the roster and only won two games in the first 15, I'm pretty happy with that. Those players are still talented and with only two wins were bound to be in the bottom 5 picks again in a draft that is deep and has a lot of talent. I'd rather keep Price, Scherbak and Danult while getting that #1-#6 pick. Trading Pacioretty for more picks and Byron for probably a single 2nd. That scenario works out really well for MTL, without giving up the franchise.

Carolina give up the farm for a goalie who cannot stay healthy? If he is healthy I like it, Patch is another Skinner issue, I don’t see him coming to Carolina. I like the idea but not the price or return

I am pretty sure Montreal won't trade their whole team for some prospects, and pretty sure Price isn't going anywhere because fans would just stop watching games. Hockey is a business as well, and you just went bankrupt.
