Maata is too slow to be an impact player in the "today NHL", he's a good 4th defense, no more!! Trouba is a top 2 and Sprong we don't know in future...

From a 3rd party it just seems like this trade significantly over values both Maatta and Sprong. Trouba is tested and proven...AND an RFA. There would have to be ALOT more going to WPG for Chevy to answer JR's call

not enough for Trouba IMO, hes too important to that team even with his uncertain RFA status beyond 2019 season.
Jets could get a lot more for him that this from other teams, so Pens would have to up the offer to pry him away from the Jets

Trouba stats 328 games 34 goals 97 assists. Maata 304 games 24 goals and 69 assists. Obviously Trouba brings more offensive production but they couldn't sign him to a long term deal last off-season and the Jets have a lot of offensive players to pay next year. And the past two years, his name is always comes up the rumor mills. Maybe Meyers gets the boot and not Trouba. The jets also need some right handed right wingers and Sprong has the size and talent to be a 20 goal scorer for the Jets 3rd line. I probably over valued he trade by throwing in the 3rd rd pick but was banking on Jets going to desperate to have a legit 2nd pairing guy in maata locked in for another 3 year at $4m and the potential in Sprong and not over pay Trouba and Meyers.

I think you are significantly UNDERvaluing maata, he is a real NHL player, obviously not to the level of trouba but he is also proven and signed for multiple years at a reasonable rate. Sprong is just a prospect at this point so even though he is a pretty good prospect I could see your point on that one. I would say drop the third in this deal, add in a couple picks from Pittsburgh and it would be a fair deal.
