I am not sure either team likes that deal. St Louis could do better from other teams with a shorter window of contention and TO can likely get a longer term solution than Pietrangelo.

I agree. This post was mainly to see if the value of this trade is accurate. Would a trade of Pietrangelo to Tampa for TJ, retained Callahan, and Cernak work?

Way better than giving up Parayko. Parayko is younger, cheaper, and better than Alex.

I would 100% agree. Leafs are specifically targetting young defensemen with control, and/or a long-term cap-friendly contract. That's why someone like Josh Manson makes sense, both from a playing perspective and from a financial perspective. They are hard to find, which is why a lot of the same names are constantly getting tossed around. I'd like to the see the Leafs play hardball and let Nylander sit. They can trade him at the draft and, depending where lottery teams fall, maybe he gets them a high 2019 1st plus something else.
