the ottowa trade is barley enough for stone with retained let alone throwing in duchene with retained as well

To add to the retention part: Ottawa can only retain on one of those players as well. Can't retain salary on more than two active players. Phaneuf is one of them, unfortunately.

As for the trades themselves, I would go for Duchene only. Don't need more winger depth but a more skilled offensive centre would go a long way to help Laine, Connor and/or Ehlers.
