Description
I know most of the posts here have been about finding a short term 2C, but I’m worried about Mittelstadt long term as even a 2C. I don’t see anything positive from him.

It’s a C heavy draft and it looks like GMJB would be nuts to ignore the possibility of Mittelstadt never panning out.

He is young, Center is a hard position and it requires not only skills but a lot of mental décisions so let him get some experience

He's 20 Years old and is has 10 points in 40 games... how can you even consider calling him a bust? Wait until 22-23 before making assumptions that he is a bust.

I also think a lot of people had really high expectations for Mittelstadt they were really unrealistic....like >50 pts

I was hoping for at least 1/2 at best 30-40 pts

I think he will be a successful dynamic NHL forward, but there is a possibility center May not be his best NHL position. He split time at wing and center in Minnesota.

With O’Reillly gone though, Mittelstadt will get every shot imaginable to develop as a center, something Reinhart really didn’t get when he came in to the league because of organizational need on the wings at the time, and the fact that we acquired two number one centers in that 2015 offseason, , and our own impatience because the Sabres were trying to win quickly under Murray and Bylsma.

His possession metrics though really need to improve over the next couple years, -2.8 CF%rel is quite atrocious with all those offensive zone starts and second unit PP time, especially if he is going to be a center.

The organization is committed to him at that position going forward and that’s where they wanna develop him at
