I don't think the Kings want anything to do with that Zaitsev contract. The potential to get Nylander is enticing, but they can't afford another overpaid defensemen. Not to mention this trade would put the Kings over the cap by a few million since Doughty's extension kicks in next season and Kempe and Iafallo are due raises.

Also, Patrick Marleau is not being traded.

Or you could keep Nylander and not massively overpay Gardiner who isn't worth more than he makes currently.

Throwing it out there, I’m not a Leafs fan, just a firm believer that they can’t keep Matthews and have a really competitive roster. I was just playing with the roster and trying to figure out how exactly to do it.

Can see LA taking that trade. Zaitsev has negative value Nylander isnt a huge upgrade from Toffoli, plus what will be a very early 2nd rounder? Not a chance.
