wow quite the flurry of moves. I understand the reason behind trading for panik and flipping him for lesser picks(unloading Johnson) I just don't like the move in that way.

The deal with Carolina is obviously the headliner here, the pens would be filling a couple needs(3rd line center, for multiple years) and a physical LW rental. I wouldn't say TVR fills a need but I guess with you trading three defenseman in all your deals would need to add one. Personally I would rather just not get rid of Maata. Since there is so many players on both sides its hard to say whether its even a fair deal or not and whether Carolina would want to do that(partly cause they still aren't fully out or in this year) But it gets them a center for this year, and gets them their future goalie. When I break it down I think it might be an overpayment from a Pens perspective but it might take an overpayment to get Carolina to do the deal(plus retain on staal for that many years)

how does JJ wilson and a 2nd land you Panik? Oh that's right it doesn't.
Then NJ trade is awful. They could do so much better.
I will give you some points for benching Cullen. God knows that needs to be done already.

Carolina isn't making that trade. Especially when they are retaining on Staal. You're throwing quantity and not quality to them.
I could see a 1st and simon for Ferland. But I can't see brassard and a 2nd for Staal with retainage and then Jarry, Ruhwedl(why would they want him) and Johnson for TVR.

The NJD trade I don't see it happening but value isn't too bad. Especially if Brassard gets moved in a more realistic deal. Boyle would be a decent 3rd line center and Zacha could be as well.

Panik would be a decent rental winger but JJ isn't going anywhere. People seem to forget how much better he is since he and Pettersson were put together as a tandem.
