Ryan Reaves has negative value and Montreal will not trade Pacioretty to Pittsburgh.

don't like the karlsson trade. Any team acquiring him would be overpaying with that type of payout. He's a ufa at the end of the year. We could get him without giving anything up. In your trade we're giving a star defence, a good prospect and a 1st for just another star defence.

Its not just for another defence......lets be honest here. One is quite possibly the best dman since Lidstrom. The other is a really good dman that is illness and injury prone..... I'm not saying Karlsson can't be signed as a free agent but think of this way: If OTT can't sign him, they'll want to trade him to a team that will. To the team that acquires him, will probably want to resign him. Then comes the fact that you can't afford EK if your not losing Letangs salary at the same time. If this deal was offered by Ottawa with Letang waiving his NMC and Karlsson was willing to sign an extension this July, i'd make it in a heartbeat....

I think your forgetting how good EK is. Plus you would have him for this year and next year also as his contract ends July 2019. Not this year.

As for the MTL trade, in what world would MTL accept that? Even with Reeves not included.....People like to forget that Pacioretty has more goals the past 7 years than any current NHL'er not named Ovechkin, Stamkos, Tavares......If Duchene got the haul he got from Ottawa, I can't fathom Pacioretty getting anything less.

Nah, I completely agree with you on how good karlsson is. I guess when you put it the way you did yea the trade sounds better.

Letang won’t waive his NTC for OTT. Karlsson would cost 12m+ in FA. Sorry MTL fans for that proposal...

all are excellent points. and i have to agree with what you said on pacioretty. fans just want him gone, and i understand that, but we could receive a kings ransom for him. how many teams want a 30 goal scorer making 4.5mill for another year, and can play power play and pk.
